About Us
Located in Skokie, just outside of Chicago, Berwick Court Publishing Co. is committed to editing and publishing a diverse range of titles, from compelling fiction to enlightening non-fiction. Our mission is to cultivate a rich literary culture that resonates with readers and provides authors with a supportive platform to share their unique stories. As a small, family-run company, we pride ourselves on maintaining close relationships with our authors, ensuring each one feels like part of the Berwick Court family.
Back when international best-selling author Ronald Balson was just a practicing attorney with aspirations of being a published author, he was struggling to find a publisher for his now-award-winning novel, Once We Were Brothers. He eventually turned to his son, Matt, a former attorney turned stay-at-home dad. They co-founded Berwick Court Publishing Co. and published the book that would launch Ronald's career as a best-selling author.
Ronald's literary journey evolved as he later partnered with St. Martin's Press to reach a broader, international audience. Meanwhile, Matt has continued to run Berwick Court Publishing Co., with the help of his brother Dave, a keen editor. (Dave wants it known that he did not edit this pablum. Matt wants it known that he hates writing marketing copy.) Together, they have grown Berwick Court into a respected independent publishing house dedicated to showcasing new voices.
